Every student has access to school counseling lessons that meet ASCA National Mindset and Behavior Standards, as well as standards met by the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL). The majority of classroom lessons come from the Second Step Social and Emotional Learning curriculum. This curriculum focuses on 4 main learning themes: Skills for Learning, Empathy, Emotion Management, and Problem Solving. In addition to classroom lessons, the Second Step SEL curriculum has at home resources to reinforce key concepts and engage positive conversations between students and their guardians. The sections below have attached files with suggested SEL activities to implement at home.
