This Friday marks the 1st of October! It has been a fast and fantastic start to the school year. I have enjoyed interacting with our students, both individually and in the classroom. Below are statistics on individual student meetings thus far (not counting small group and classroom interactions):
112 student meetings 96% of 1:1 meetings fell under the Social/Emotional Counseling Domain 28% of 1:1 meetings were for providing behavior support 28% of 1:1 meetings were for providing emotional support 20% of 1:1 meetings were for relationship building I will do my best to continue updating these statistics throughout the year. I feel it is important that the community knows the impact being made in the building, as well as where student needs are within the counseling program.

This past week for SEL/Counseling class, Kindergarten continued reviewing whole body listening by reading "Howard B Wigglebottom Learns to Listen". 3rd grade took the SAEBRS screener as a class. 4th grade started the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit, and in our first lesson we discussed what bullying looks like, sounds like, and feels like. We also started discussing the difference between bullying and a conflict. In our next lesson, Kindergarten and 3rd grade will start the bullying prevention unit. 4th grade will continue on their bullying prevention unit as well.
Below is a link to a wonderful literature resource:
Home | Words Worth Repeating Words Worth Repeating is a local small business that partners with families to provide custom books as a therapeutic process for children in need. This wonderful business is worth checking out! I will be ordering some of their books soon, so if you ever want to check out a physical copy let me know! |
