Phone number and website listed on flyer attached. Below are updated counseling statistics for the 2021-22 school year. On very busy days I am not able to log every single counseling session, but do my best to keep an accurate count:
14% of students have participated in a tier 2 intervention (either small group, individual, or classroom push-in). The end of year goal is to reach 20% of students who have received tier 2 services. 94% of meetings fall within the social/emotional domain of service Reasons for Visit: 28% - General emotional support 23% - Behavior support 16% - Relationship building 13% - Family concern Counseling sessions by grade level: 5th Grade - 39% 4th Grade - 17% 3rd Grade - 16% 2nd Grade - 19% 1st Grade - 5% Kindergarten - 3% What a busy school year it has been! It has been difficult at times to log every counseling session, but below are some updated statistics:
167 student sessions (not including small group sessions or behavior interventions) 97% of sessions fall in the Social/Emotional counseling domain 29% of sessions were for behavior support 26% of sessions were for emotional support 19% of sessions were for relationship building Attached is a helpful resource for parents regarding how to support children if they receive a vaccine.
This Friday marks the 1st of October! It has been a fast and fantastic start to the school year. I have enjoyed interacting with our students, both individually and in the classroom. Below are statistics on individual student meetings thus far (not counting small group and classroom interactions):
112 student meetings 96% of 1:1 meetings fell under the Social/Emotional Counseling Domain 28% of 1:1 meetings were for providing behavior support 28% of 1:1 meetings were for providing emotional support 20% of 1:1 meetings were for relationship building I will do my best to continue updating these statistics throughout the year. I feel it is important that the community knows the impact being made in the building, as well as where student needs are within the counseling program. This past week for SEL/Counseling class, Kindergarten continued reviewing whole body listening by reading "Howard B Wigglebottom Learns to Listen". 3rd grade took the SAEBRS screener as a class. 4th grade started the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit, and in our first lesson we discussed what bullying looks like, sounds like, and feels like. We also started discussing the difference between bullying and a conflict. In our next lesson, Kindergarten and 3rd grade will start the bullying prevention unit. 4th grade will continue on their bullying prevention unit as well.

Home | Words Worth Repeating Words Worth Repeating is a local small business that partners with families to provide custom books as a therapeutic process for children in need. This wonderful business is worth checking out! I will be ordering some of their books soon, so if you ever want to check out a physical copy let me know! This week I will be visiting Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, and 4th Grade for core counseling lessons. We will be discussing whole body listening in class and how to recognize bullying. Have a great week!
As explained under the "classroom curriculum" tab above, core counseling lessons impact all students and take place in every homeroom. During "Week A" I meet with Kindergarten, 3rd, and 4th grade. During "Week B" I meet with 1st, 2nd and 5th grade. I will provide this information in more detail under the "classroom curriculum" tab. In the initial weeks of class I have the following goals:
- Make sure students have an understanding of who I am and what I do - Begin to build positive relationships with ALL students - Implement the Social Academic and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS). This is a research-based universal screener that provides data on which students could benefit from additional supports (i.e. small groups or 1-on-1 meetings with the counselor). Grades 2-5 take the SAEBRS screener individually, while K-1 teachers have a form that they fill out for students. As always, if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out! |
