As explained under the "classroom curriculum" tab above, core counseling lessons impact all students and take place in every homeroom. During "Week A" I meet with Kindergarten, 3rd, and 4th grade. During "Week B" I meet with 1st, 2nd and 5th grade. I will provide this information in more detail under the "classroom curriculum" tab. In the initial weeks of class I have the following goals:
- Make sure students have an understanding of who I am and what I do - Begin to build positive relationships with ALL students - Implement the Social Academic and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS). This is a research-based universal screener that provides data on which students could benefit from additional supports (i.e. small groups or 1-on-1 meetings with the counselor). Grades 2-5 take the SAEBRS screener individually, while K-1 teachers have a form that they fill out for students. As always, if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out!
